Report: Jonah Lehrer has resigned from The New Yorker after new reports of fabrication journ.us/Q5RiMd “I’m deeply sorry for lying.”

Bob Wright backs up Michael Moynihan, the journalist who blew the whistle on Jonah:

I can also relate to Moynihan’s attempt, which is evident in this interview, to minimize the schadenfreude by trying not to take delight in Lehrer’s downfall per se. Hate the sin, not the sinner. But, as a practical matter, the way to hold the incidence of sin down is to punish sinners.

The whole thing is saddening because Lehrer is so obviously brilliant and talented – just as Johann Hari is. But accountability matters; and these two precocious talents have rightly taken their lumps and will, I fervently hope, return to better days soon.
