So far I have concentrated on the Victorian side of Steampunk, and now I will show you an easy tutorial on how to add a large Steampunk accent.</p>
<p>Because with Steampunk, you have to have <em>presence!!</em></p>
<p>You will need:</p>
<ul>
<li>PVC pipe, 4 inch wide, 5 feet long</li>
<li>PVC 4 inch coupling</li>
<li>PVC 4 inch 90* elbow</li>
<li>Rust-Oleum Universal Hammered in Copper</li>
<li> Two corks</li>
<li>Sharpie™ marker</li>
<li>E-6000</li>
</ul>
<p>Set up the pieces of PVC on a tarp in a well-ventilated area.</p>
<p><a href="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png"><img data-attachment-id="2443" data-permalink="https://aggiesprite.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/do-it-yourself-steampunk-accent/pvc-1/" data-orig-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png" data-orig-size="459,497" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="pvc 1" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png?w=277" data-large-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png?w=459" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2443" title="pvc 1" src="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png?w=459&#038;h=497" alt="" width="459" height="497" srcset="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png 459w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png?w=139&amp;h=150 139w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-1.png?w=277&amp;h=300 277w" sizes="(max-width: 459px) 100vw, 459px" /></a></p>
<p>Once you wipe them clean of dirt and dust, apply a thin streak of E-6000 to the inside of the coupling and the elbow, and connect the pieces. Allow them to set for about 30 minutes. <!--more-->Once stable, lay the connected piece with the elbow facing down, and let dry a bit longer. While that dries, take your spray paint and shake vigorously for at least one minute.</p>

<p>Next, begin spraying the PVC in an even, thin coat.</p>
<p><a href="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png"><img data-attachment-id="2445" data-permalink="https://aggiesprite.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/do-it-yourself-steampunk-accent/spraying/" data-orig-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png" data-orig-size="475,478" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="spraying" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png?w=298" data-large-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png?w=475" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2445" title="spraying" src="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png?w=475&#038;h=478" alt="" width="475" height="478" srcset="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png 475w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png?w=150&amp;h=150 150w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/spraying.png?w=298&amp;h=300 298w" sizes="(max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px" /></a></p>
<p>Let dry for about 30 minutes between each coat. The PVC took roughly three thin coats, and the effect is very pretty.</p>
<p><a href="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png"><img data-attachment-id="2446" data-permalink="https://aggiesprite.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/do-it-yourself-steampunk-accent/painted-pvc/" data-orig-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png" data-orig-size="403,545" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="painted pvc" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png?w=222" data-large-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png?w=403" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2446" title="painted pvc" src="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png?w=403&#038;h=545" alt="" width="403" height="545" srcset="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png 403w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png?w=111&amp;h=150 111w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/painted-pvc.png?w=222&amp;h=300 222w" sizes="(max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px" /></a></p>
<p>Here is a closeup of the effect:</p>
<p><a href="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png"><img data-attachment-id="2447" data-permalink="https://aggiesprite.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/do-it-yourself-steampunk-accent/hammered-closeup/" data-orig-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png" data-orig-size="426,447" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="hammered closeup" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png?w=286" data-large-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png?w=426" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2447" title="hammered closeup" src="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png?w=426&#038;h=447" alt="" width="426" height="447" srcset="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png 426w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png?w=143&amp;h=150 143w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/hammered-closeup.png?w=286&amp;h=300 286w" sizes="(max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px" /></a></p>
<p>Honestly, I could have done another coat, but I was A) tired, 3) hungry, and ix) hot. So, three coats was deemed plenty good.</p>
<p>Now for the funny part. Take a couple of corks from wine, not champagne, or any evenly sized corks. Cut them into roughly six pieces each, then color with a Sharpie™, like so:</p>
<p><a href="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png"><img data-attachment-id="2448" data-permalink="https://aggiesprite.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/do-it-yourself-steampunk-accent/cork1/" data-orig-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png" data-orig-size="475,468" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="cork1" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png?w=300" data-large-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png?w=475" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2448" title="cork1" src="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png?w=475&#038;h=468" alt="" width="475" height="468" srcset="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png 475w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png?w=150&amp;h=148 150w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork1.png?w=300&amp;h=296 300w" sizes="(max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px" /></a></p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry if they aren&#8217;t perfect. That&#8217;s the beauty of Steampunk! Once you have recovered from the fumes, glue the cork bits onto the PVC joints, to resemble rivets.</p>
<p><a href="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png"><img data-attachment-id="2449" data-permalink="https://aggiesprite.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/do-it-yourself-steampunk-accent/cork2/" data-orig-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png" data-orig-size="410,469" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="cork2" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png?w=262" data-large-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png?w=410" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2449" title="cork2" src="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png?w=410&#038;h=469" alt="" width="410" height="469" srcset="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png 410w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png?w=131&amp;h=150 131w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/cork2.png?w=262&amp;h=300 262w" sizes="(max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px" /></a></p>
<p>Make sure you space them evenly. Also, you don&#8217;t have to glue any on the underside which won&#8217;t be seen, unless you are a perfectionist. In that case, use three corks.</p>
<p>And, <em>TA DA!!!!!!!</em></p>
<p><a href="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png"><img data-attachment-id="2450" data-permalink="https://aggiesprite.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/do-it-yourself-steampunk-accent/pvc-done/" data-orig-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png" data-orig-size="434,448" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="pvc done" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png?w=291" data-large-file="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png?w=434" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2450" title="pvc done" src="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png?w=434&#038;h=448" alt="" width="434" height="448" srcset="https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png 434w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png?w=145&amp;h=150 145w, https://aggiesprite.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/pvc-done.png?w=291&amp;h=300 291w" sizes="(max-width: 434px) 100vw, 434px" /></a></p>
<p>This is taller than I am, but very light. It will be adhered to the wall with sticky stuff instead of glue, since I don&#8217;t want to damage the wall. Once it is stuck to the wall, I shall fashion a gasket to hide the seam, which y&#8217;all will see on The Big Reveal©.</p>
<p>Until then, please pray that Eldest is done with her room so that y&#8217;all will see the reveal before 2016 😉</p>
