Chicken Satay Sticks.

We each had a bowl of rice…

To go with some crazily spicy vegetables.

Chopped and fried green beans, chilli, onion flakes and shredded jackfruit, the last of which the uncanny texture of flakes of fish (vegetarians, try shredded jackfruit the next time you want to invent a tuna sandwich!).

Since my mum lied and said the chilli sambal wasn’t spicy, I took a big spoonful then downed half a litre of liquids, crying.

A meat platter of Satay Sticks and Babi Guling (suckling pig), which according to my mum, tasted rather plain, but with a bit of salt. She also said the skin wasn’t crispy enough. Guess we didn’t go to the right place.

As a vegosaurus, I had 2 fried eggs instead.

We spent 5 hours waiting at the airport for our flight back to Malaysia.

Dinner time.

The serving sizes in Asia are much smaller than Australia. Which is good, cause I probably shouldn’t be eating too many wedges anyway…

…so I can nom on my delicious soy-drenched tofu and beansprouts!

Winky had Wat Ton Hor, flat noodles with seafood, meat, mixed veggies in a thick egg sauce.

Ma had Sweet and Sour Pork.

Ba had Nasi Lemak.

Overall, a pretty uneventful New Year’s Eve.

We were in the car on our way home from the airport when at 12:03am, we noticed fireworks in the sky.

My family is chiller.
