Three weeks in, only two conference teams are undefeated.

There are a considerable number more that don’t seem to be able to play much defense.

The middle of the SEC is a muddle.

1. Alabama.  The funny thing this week is that both Saban and Smart are going to prepare the conference’s only two undefeated teams by grumbling about bad execution in Saturday’s wins.
2. Georgia.  We’re about to get an early look at how far a great defense can take a team in this day and age.
3. Auburn.  Gus’ rabbit’s foot makes an appearance.
4. Texas A&M.  Jimbo earns his paycheck, at least for one week.
5. Florida.  Those national championship plans got put on hold.  That’s a shame.
6. Tennessee.  Winning the games you’re supposed to win is a good start, but eventually you’ll play somebody you’re not supposed to beat.
7. Kentucky.  Ugly win, but when the turnovers go your way, you’ll take ’em.
8. Ole Miss.  Fun to watch, the defense is as wretched as the offense is good.
9. Arkansas.  Sam Pittman is my early candidate for SEC Coach of the Year.
10. Missouri.  I’d say the offense is coming around faster than expected, but that was Bo Pelini they just faced.
11. South Carolina.  Vanderbilt is chicken soup for Boom’s soul.
12. Mississippi State.  No SEC team has seen its stock fall faster from Week 1 than MSU.
13. LSU.  Coach O is only as good as his coordinators.
14. Vanderbilt.  Vandy’s bad enough at full roster, but having to play with only 56 made it even worse.
