This is the opening of the article of the Pavlovian Pravda, the independent newspaper run from within the Principality of Pavlov. The Principality on this day, as it is written in the quote, signed the controversial Edict of Kolchaksaray, which, in addition to forcing the subjects of the Pavlovian Crown to become Eastern Orthodox Christians as according to the Pavlovian Orthodox Church and exiling all LGBTQI and non-Orthodox individuals, also takes slight at all nations that are signatories of the Denton Protocol, a legal document that recently caused much debate within the wider Micronational community a few months ago. The Protocol was a rather aggressive stance to protect the interests of LGBTQI individuals within the Micronational community, and the Edict of Kolchaksaray declares all citizens of all signatory nations of the Protocol to be persona non grata within Pavlov’s territory.

The Consul of the People’s Democratic Republic of Costa Dorada, the honourable Titus Smith (an individual involved in the early stages of the Freedomian Aggression, who became part of the government-in-exile of the Freedomian Republic formed to counter the Holy Empire of New Israel’s theocratic principles), first responded to the Edict by declaring the official stance of the Costa Doradan government, stating that:

“[The government of Costa Dorada] condemn[s] this fascist policy and place diplomatic sanctions on the Principality of Pavlov and declare the Pavlovian state a reactionary, fundamentalist government.”

This was responded to in a measured fashion by a spokesperson for the Pavlovian Crown, who, despite being polite about the stance of Costa Dorada, declared that no foreign nation had any say in deciding Pavlovian policy. International condemnations are not attempts to sway policy, however; they are but statements of the national opinion, as Consul Smith was keen to point out in his reply. The Metropolitan of the Pavlovian Orthodox Church, however, provided a far more rabid, banal and disgusting tirade, and levelled it at Consul Smith. Firstly calling Smith a “great sinner” (for the Consul is an atheist), the Metropolitan went on to say the following:

It is the official stance of the Pavlovian Orthodox Church and the Grand Principality, that “human rights” and “religious freedom” that you mentioned in your comment are both temptations of Satan, and reference to either of the two is strictly prohibited by the Pavlovian legislation…

Even more so, there isn’t such a thing like “rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals” and other perverts who violate the laws of God and of nature – such creatures chose to pledge themselves to Satan, therefore are nothing but lower life forms and shall be treated respectively.

This disgusting stance by a supposedly Christian nation forced the Lords of Mercia to deliver a statement on behalf of the Mercian nation, to condemn such a foul policy of intolerance, when the Christ that the Pavlovians theoretically follow preached tolerance. The statement was issued by HL Richard I, Lord Spiritual of Mercia and Lord of Clyro, and read as following:

On behalf of the Lords, Nobles, Parliamentarians and Subjects of the Kingdoms and Lands Represented in the Council of the Diarchal Crowns of the Disciples (Mercia), I, Lord Spiritual of Mercia, hereby condemn the actions made by the Pavlovian Orthodox Church and the Pavlovian government, to exile all LGBTQI subjects and to force Orthodoxy upon the subjects of Pavlov.

The Mercian nation is a Christian one, but we do not force Christianity upon our subjects. Although my position as Lord Spiritual of Mercia means I am to oversee the Church and its relation to the Mercian people, I would never abuse my position as to take such flagrant disregard for the scriptures so as to use them as an excuse for persecution. Homosexuality and other such sexual deviancy is sinful, and I am not rebuking that, but it is not the place of Christians to judge them; The Book of Matthew, Chapter 7, Verses 1 & 2 clearly states “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” Sinners cannot judge who is sinful, and we are all sinful. The Pavlovian Orthodox Church is making vast presumptions over the moral integrity of its leadership and congregations if it thinks itself so just as to mete out judgement on Christ’s behalf.

The second Great Commandment was this; “Love thy neighbour as thy self.” You should treat these sinners with grace and forgiveness, as Christ showed grace and forgiveness, by dying at Calvary for our trespasses. We are told to forgive the sinful not just once, but every time they sin. It is not staying true to scripture to condemn others for their sins, while ignoring your own sins; The Book of Matthew, Chapter 7, Verse 3 goes to say “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” Furthermore, in the Book of Exodus, Chapter 20, one of the Ten Commandments is “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thine neighbour.” The Pavlovian Orthodox church’s response of “such creatures chose to pledge themselves to Satan, therefore are nothing but lower life forms and shall be treated respectively” goes completely against Christian belief, and furthermore, is a false accusation of the allegiance of LGBTQI individuals and of their biological standing. When Judgement Day comes, do you think that God will smile upon your judgements that were made to others, or will he treat you with the same disrespect that you showed his other children? It is not your place to decide who the children of God are, and God loves all of his children, even LGBTQI people. They are not ‘lesser life forms’, and they should never be treated as such.

The Mercian Lords, good and Christian as they are, will reiterate their condemnation of Pavlov’s stance on forcing Orthodoxy upon the citizenry; people can only be led to God by God; they cannot be forced into believing. All you will do is indoctrinate those who want to believe against their will, and who through no fault of their own, will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven come Judgement Day.

Mercia stands with the LGBTQI movement and the Democratic People’s Republic of Costa Dorada; this move is morally wrong, from both a Christian and a secular perspective, and I personally beg both the Pavlovian monarch and the Pavlovian Orthodox church to reconsider their stance on the matters at hand.

Written by His Lordship Richard I, Lord Spiritual of Mercia, Lord of Clyro.

The Principality of Pavlov was once a former Autonomous Member State of the Würtige Empire, when the Empire first formed in early December 2012. Just two weeks after joining the Empire, however, the Principality took great issue with the centralisation of the Imperial Army, and the disallowing of Autonomous Member States to have their own offensive capacity outside of National Guards and Militias. In spite of the Autonomous Member States receiving almost total sovereignty in all other matters, Pavlov left the Empire after a fortnight, before the New Year of 2013.
