It was a disappointing night for the Grizzlies in the Power Plant on Saturday, Feb. 4. Butler could not shut down the leading scorer for Independence sophomore, Tate Turner. The Grizzlies lost 77-66.

Turner was hitting jumpers from mid-range and was not going to miss as he went 6-15 from the field and knocked down a three pointer. DeAnthony McCallum and Shawntez Scroggins had a big impact on the game as McCallum lead his team in scoring with 18 points, and Scroggins ended up with 13.

The Pirates were hitting shots that were contested, at the very least.

The lone bright spot for Butler was Jacolby Harris. He scored 17 points and went 9-13 from the charity stripe. Butler had a rough night offensively. They also struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 14 percent, and that’s something that the team typically does well.
