New year and new semester.

Hello! As my byline has already stated, I’m Caelin Bragg and I’m the advertising and distribution editor for the next school year. Spring was a hectic semester, from our papers being taken from our racks at the start of the semester to our massive front-page story that ended out our year. While that’s exciting as a journalist, we’re still students and are already stressed enough from class, so here’s hoping we have a calmer semester.

I’d be remiss not to mention the loss in our Butler family with Michael Cissell’s, a former professor of English, passing. He was a good friend of the Butler Lantern and came to visit us often. Cissell was an inspiration, and I hope that will come out throughout my work this semester.

My goal for this semester is to build the quality of our paper up to an award-winning level. We had a good showing during the awards last semester, but having a taste, I want the Butler Lantern to run away with the awards this year. We’ll have to see if my goal will come to fruition next semester.
