This offseason, two new assistant coaches, former players Kenzie Young and Morgan Bohanan, from the 2017 National Championship team, began working for the Butler softball team.

Young, a Derby native who received All-American honors in both her freshman and sophomore seasons here at Butler, is one of the additions.

“Kenzie Young was what I like to call a grinder,” Coach Doug Chance said on the Athletics website. “She was a tough gritty player that always expected more out of herself. I believe she will raise the level of expectations and help to hold players to a higher standard of daily effort.”

Bohanan, a Goddard native, transferred to Butler after playing four games her freshman year at the University of Kansas. She suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Once she recovered, she played in 52 games for the Grizzlies and was named to the NFCA NJCAA Division I All-America First Team, First Team All-Jayhawk Conference Division I selection, and helped lead Butler to the 2016 NJCAA National Championship.
