In fact, after the AFI released about a hundred of their stupid &#8220;Top 100&#8221; lists, I pretty much swore off the things. Without validating the list concept, let&#8217;s consider the <a href="http://www.asme.org/Communities/History/Resources/20th_Century_Achievements.cfm" TARGET="_blank">ASME <i>20th Century Mechanical Engineering Achievements</i></a> a collection of interesting stuff. I especially like the reference to the Ribbon Machine, which I&#8217;d never heard of before.</p>
