I had heard good things about Bobby Jindal, who was cleaning up the cesspool of Louisiana politics and cutting taxes. He&#8217;s mentioned approvingly as being on the short McCain Veep list. Then John Derbyshire <a href="http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NmMwOWVmZjcyNTY0MzZhOTcxMzdhMWEwOWMwYThhMmE=" target="_blank">points out</a> that it&#8217;s hard enough to defend the Republicans to his liberal friends who call it the &#8220;snake handling party&#8221; without Jindal&#8217;s <a href="http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/bobby_jindals_dance_with_the_d.php" target="_blank">help</a>.</p>
<p>Now Jindal seems to be forsaking his medical training in favor of <a href="http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/30385_Jindals_College_Professor_Says_Dont_Hold_Back_the_Next_Generation" target="_blank">superstition</a>. I hope he does the right thing and vetoes the bill.</p>
<p>But, I fear, we&#8217;re in for a long wait.</p>
