<p>There are signs in my neighborhood urging a no on prop 8, using the equality argument. That&#8217;s one of the main reasons to vote yes: If homosexual &#8220;marriage&#8221; is treated as a matter of equality, if arbitrary definitions of marriage can be incorporated into the law by fiat, then &#8220;equality&#8221; dictates that the state also sanction the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>A guy who wants to marry his cousin.</li>
<li>A guy who wants to marry his sister.</li>
<li>A guy who wants to marry his goat.</li>
<li>A guy who wants to marry a lot of women at once.</li>
<li>And, in California, at least, a guy who wants to marry his car.</li>
</ul>
<p>That would be chaos, not equality.</p>
