We know that we don’t have the hutzpa to handle a total gut-job. Let’s be clear – we’re ambitious, not insane. But we are at the point in our lives where we are yearning to put our stamp on our surroundings in a more meaningful way than just with paint and landscaping. Those things are critical, but they don’t encompass the breadth of homeowner design that would most accurately reflect who we are.

We anticipate being in this cozy cape for many years to come and there’s enough of a list of projects and vision for additions, etc. that will be able to keep us busy. Plus, we’re in a neighborhood that we won’t be priced out of by making the improvements we want to make. So before we launch on this journey together….here’s a little back story on how we got to be “us.”

In the fall of 1992, we met for the first time in our first period French II class at Woodstown High School. I (Carrie) was a senior, Patrick a sophomore. We stayed in a touch a bit after I graduated; reconnected again in 2000 when Patrick was working in Delaware; lost touch again until Patrick was moving back to Delaware in 2005; immediately started to date and we were married by September 2006. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am!

In 2007, we moved into our first house together, a three-story, 3,000 square foot historic stone four-square on one of Wilmington’s lovely old boulevards. The house had been renovated top to bottom, but lacked any landscaping and needed some decorative touches inside – perfect for the newlyweds with demanding careers and an active social life! Later that year, Finley, our English Springer Spaniel, made three. And on St. Patty’s Day 2010, the light of our lives, Gavin Henry, joined the Gray family ranks, rounding out our clan.

Now, after years of being hooked on HGTV and DIY Network, we have a vision for the perfect cape cod, in the perfect neighborhood, on the perfect street. Sounds pretty perfect, right? Wait and see…..
