<p>One place that cares about your privacy is your public library.</p>
<p>And yet, law enforcement has been known to regularly challenge libraries to give them private information without obtaining the necessary court order.  Here&#8217;s one recent <a title="omaha patron info" href="http://www.omaha.com/news/metro/mayor-s-office-proposes-letting-police-check-out-library-patron/article_0db6d234-f205-506e-be53-b74452c2d8df.html" target="_blank">example</a>.  Really? They &#8220;couldn’t take him to a treatment facility&#8221; because of his &#8220;unwillingness to give his name&#8221;? And in all the time the officers were &#8220;tied up&#8221; (&#8220;about two hours&#8221;) they couldn&#8217;t have gotten the required court order?</p>
