But you know, sometimes, when the buck stops with you, you do have to say “no.” But instead of saying:

• No way!
• Over my dead body!
• That will never work here!
• What were you thinking?!

There are better ways to indicate that you don’t think an idea or suggestion might not work out:

• Ask questions.
• Suggest modifications.
• Pick your battles.
