<p>In the world of libraries, my favorite story of 2016 is that <a href="https://www.loc.gov/item/prn-16-110/" target="_blank">Dr. Carla D. Hayden was appointed as the 14th Librarian of Congress</a>, the first woman and first African American to hold that post. She is also one of the few Librarians of Congress who is actually a professional librarian.</p>
<p>In other news, the 2016 Presidential election ushered in some challenging and scary times for libraries, the United States, and the world. It remains to see how we all will cope with and survive the coming year(s).</p>
<p>Again, however you ring in the New Year, I hope you are happy, healthy, and safe.</p>
