Stop the War’s AGM for members and delegates

Introduction
This year’s national conference, which is Stop the War’s annual general meeting for members and delegates, is taking place against the background of transnational war and turmoil.
• The war in Syria is escalating, and the British government is keen to get involved, both through covert military action and by getting parliament to authorise yet another bombing campaign.
• One of the outcomes of the war is the terrible forced migration of millions of people. Despite the right-wing rhetoric, the „swarming migrants“ are actually refugees from grinding poverty and (in particular) from Anglo-American wars.

• Islamophobia is becoming an increasing threat to the Muslim communities at home.

• NATO intervention in Eastern Europe is helping to fuel the civil war in Ukraine and is increasingly fomenting a new Cold War with Russia.

The conference will discuss how the anti-war movement should respond in the next 18 months. If you want to be part of this important planning and action conference, please make sure you book early to secure your place.

The war on terror and its consequences. The rise in terrorism and ISIS, the planned UK intervention in Syria, the crisis in Ukraine and the growth of Islamophobia.
2.       Students and young people against war
Planning how students and young anti-war activists can help to build the movement
3.       Building Stop the War today
• The politics needed to challenge the government’s foreign policy and to reinforce anti-war opinion.                   • Expanding the movement: local groups, trade unions, community and faith groups
