Ray McGovern , Elizabeth Murray and I spoke about our DISAGREEMENT with 51US State Department officials&#8216; dissent channel cable urging the Obama administration to bomb Syria&#8217;s Assad government to force him to negotiations for regime change! We&#8217;ve seen the chaos with US military violence and regime change in Iraq and Libya!</p>
<p>Trip leader Sharon Tenneyson spoke about bringing thousands of Russ<span class="text_exposed_show">ians to the US during the 1980s and 1990s in programs with Rotary Clubs-and bring thousands of US citizens to Russia&#8211;to show that people of both countries want peace not war.</span></p>

<p>We visited one of the first private medical clinics in Moscow-five of our delegation have medical backgrounds including Dr. Hakim Young of the Afghan Peace Volunteers. One of the Russian doctors asked our delegation, &#8220; What does the American public think about us in Russia? Do they think we are a threat to them? Please tell them we don&#8217;t want a war, we don&#8217;t intend to invade in country.&#8220;</p>

She received the State Department <a title="Award for Heroism" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Award_for_Heroism">Award for Heroism</a> in 1997, after helping to evacuate several thousand people during the <a title="Sierra Leone Civil War" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_Leone_Civil_War">civil war</a> in <a title="Sierra Leone" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_Leone">Sierra Leone</a>.<sup id="cite_ref-Nation_2010-06-09_1-0" class="reference"><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Wright#cite_note-Nation_2010-06-09-1">[1]</a></sup> She is most noted for having been one of three State Department officials to publicly resign in direct protest of the <a class="mw-redirect" title="2003 Invasion of Iraq" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Invasion_of_Iraq">2003 Invasion of Iraq</a>.<sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Wright#cite_note-2">[2]</a></sup><sup id="cite_ref-:0_3-0" class="reference"><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Wright#cite_note-:0-3">[3]</a></sup> Wright was also a passenger on the <i>Challenger 1</i>, which along with the <i>Mavi Marmara</i>, was part of the <a class="mw-redirect" title="Gaza flotilla" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_flotilla">Gaza flotilla</a>.</p>
