I applied for a new job recently within my same company. It’s not much of a promotion going from pay grade 104 to 105, but it’s something. I got a call back but I haven’t gotten an interview date yet. I’m pretty excited though. I still like my current job, but I can feel it almost getting to the point where I’m annoyed at it. I like to switch jobs before then just in case I don’t get a new opportunity right away. In this case, the opening came just in time.

I also took a look at possibly transferring to the UK branch of my company, but boy is it hard to get into the UK right now. Brexit has basically destroyed common methods of working in England as a citizen of a different country even for someone like me who has lived there before and would be doing the exact same job there as I was here in the states. It’s sad to see an opportunity closed when just a few years ago, I could have gone there on a temporary worker visa. Maybe someday I’ll make enough money to go anywhere I want.
