Cascadia is a vast area of wilderness that includes Oregon, Washington and stretches north through British Columbia, Canada. The Cascadia Forest Defenders and Cascadia Earth First! of Oregon are dedicated to protecting the dense forests of giant trees, cold rushing waters and thriving biodiversity. This summer these Earth warriors were on the road throughout the Cascadia Oregon region to educate communities about the ongoing threat of destruction to our American wilderness. If you missed one of the Cascadia EF! Roadshow tour dates, consider joining forest defenders in the woods for a Earth First! Cascadia Regional Rendezvous!

Following the Earth First! Cascadia Roadshow, organizers are back at their home bases to prepare for the regional Rondy. You are invited to join in the forest defense movement! If you have always wanted to become more involved in wilderness protection and the “no compromise” environmental movement, a national or regional Earth First! Summer Rendezvous is a great place to learn about the ongoing struggle to defend our wild, public lands and the species that call these areas home. An EF! Rendezvous is also a place to expand the movement, strengthen connections, and celebrate the work that is involved in protecting the wild.

Throughout the 30-year history of Earth First! Rendezvous annual camp-outs we host discussion workshops, direct action trainings, cook and eat together, share music, poetry and stories of past actions around camp fires. We plan how to strategically build a stronger movement that can stand up for our rights to maintain healthy forests, rivers and ecosystems that are constantly threatened by timber and resource extraction industries. However, due to increased government repression placed upon environmental activists, it is imperative that any informants or undercover agents of the law be exposed at our camp-outs and asked to leave. As a movement committed to utalizing non-violent civil disobedience, trust and a foundation of mutual respect and support are just as crucial as being safe during actions and well-educated on tactics and campaign work.

Last month the Cascadia EF! Roadshow also co-sponsored a Strategic Action Planning Workshop with the Survival Center‘s “Mayhem Action Toolkit.” At the training, participants learned how to plan a direct action with your activist group or small, dedicated, bad ass group of friends. These are the kind of organizing skills necessary to win campaigns waged against billion dollar industries. If you are interested in learning more about starting an Earth First! group in your bioregion, contact a local EF! group or the Earth First! Journal Collective by e-mailing: collective@earthfirstjournal.org. Information is also available on our home site: <a title="Earth First!
