I apologize for the sudden pile up of posts today. I have been recovering from major surgery, which I had two weeks ago. I haven’t been lugging around my laptop and getting stuff done they way I usually do. I’ve also been reading and writing a fair amount of my own in the last two weeks since I haven’t been going out anywhere or getting distracted by insipid Facebook rants.

Speaking of which, I’ll just make a note here that I was able to read Graziano’s Consciousness and the Social Brain from cover to cover before having to return it to the library yesterday. It’s a brilliant book and explains to my satisfaction the basic theory of consciousness-as-information, as meta-cognition, as information (awareness) about information (that which we are attending to), meta-cognition which is generated by the brain itself, and the neuroscience research that supports the theory.

All I can say is, if you are waiting to read half dozen other books on consciousness, neuroscience and Buddhism, put them all aside and read this book first.
