While much of this music is predictable gongs and flutes, the music of Subvers, aka Fabrice Liut of Lyon, France, is truly brilliant: complex and challenging, with strong atonal and improvisational gestures, constantly evolving mixes, yet all subtle enough to be called ‘ambient’ or music for meditation. “In the Fall” is one of his best, but there are many other excellent recordings on his two Soundcloud accounts, subvers and subvers-moment.
