Both of these politicized words have been drilled into our collective consciousness in the last two years, spammed over countless Tweets and Facebook postings, to the point where they are becoming empty cultural signifiers. But not <em>empty</em> <em>enough</em>, to put a dharma twist on it. SNL has turned the ‘woke’ meme into the ultimate empty signifier as <em>Levi’s Wokes Jeans,</em> deconstructing and spoofing the culture of the millennial generation that spawned it. When a youth-oriented pop culture show like Saturday Night Live spoofs “woke”, does it still <em>matter</em><em>?</em></p>
