The Knights dropped an important road game against Central Connecticut State 76-75 on Tuesday.

This game was supposed to be an easy win against a team that was last in the conference but the Blue Devils shocked the Knights.

The Knights fell to 8-17 with a 6-8 record in the NEC, while the Blue Devils improved to 4-24 with a 3-12 record in the NEC.

Redshirt junior guard Xzavier Malone-Key and sophomore guard Brandon Powell led the way for the Knights with 16 points each. Preseason All-NEC junior guard Jahlil Jenkins added 14  points and senior forward Kaleb Bishop added 13 points. Junior forward Elyjah Williams had 9 points and 11 rebounds.

A second half charge by the Knights came up short as they were unable to overcome a 13-point first half deficit.

The Knights shot 27-66 (40.9%) from the field, 9-19 (47.4%) from three, and 12-14 (85.7%) from the free throw line. 

Sophomore guard Ian Krishnan led the way for the Blue Devils with 16 points. Freshman guard Trey Tennyson had 11 points. Freshman guard Myles Baker added 10 points. Sophomore guard Karrington Wallace and Freshman guard Greg Outlaw both had 8 points.

CCSU shot 29-53 (54.7%) from the field, 8-15 (53.3%) from three, and 10-11 (90.9%) from the free throw line.

The Knights will look to bounce back when they host LIU on Friday, Feb. 21.
