As I sit in reflection today of the events that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001, I am astonished that FDU did not plan anything on campus.

“FDU has annually held on-campus ceremonies to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11. This year, due to the fact that most operations are virtual, we did not have an on-campus ceremony.  The University did mark the occasion on the University’s social channels (linked below) and students can and should take time from their day to remember and honor those taken so tragically,” Angelo Carfagna, associate vice president for university communications, said via email to The Equinox.

The university made posts on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

The Florham Campus SGA is holding a virtual ceremony to remember at 9 p.m., but there are no official events for the Metropolitan campus.

The Equinox staff stands with everyone who was and still is affected by the events that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001. While coronavirus may make in-person forms of remembrance more difficult, there are ways to remember through social media and online platforms like Zoom. 

Let’s all take a moment to reflect on the life-changing events and share on social media to make sure our heroes are not forgotten.
