FDU continued its new way of promoting Greek Life with the third night of Meet the Greeks events, all held virtually because of the pandemic, with three more organizations presenting themselves,  Zeta Beta Tau, Omega Psi Phi and Mu Sigma Upsilon.  

Rashard Mills, director of Student Life, kicked off the night by playing music to keep everyone entertained before the brothers of Zeta Beta Tau, Delta Pi chapter, began. 

Jared Johnson, chapter president, started off with a brief presentation of the history and introduced all of the brothers. He showed videos of the fraternity’s previous performances at past Meet the Greeks and discussed how the brothers are helping their communities during the pandemic.

The chat was vibrant and active with chants coming from all organizations all night long and some live chats on camera as well. 

The brothers of Omega Psi Phi, Tau Mu chapter, were next to present. The brothers showcased their chapter history and discussed some of the most famous fraternity brothers and where they are now. 

The sisters of Mu Sigma Upsilon Incorporated, Ọkụ chapter, were the last to present, which included a brief overview of the sorority, the group’s origins and Meet the Greeks video of strolling through campus. 

At the end of the presentations, Mills said, “Greek Life has held a very special place at FDU and all organizations put a lot of work into their presentations tonight.” 

He expressed appreciation for all of the fraternities and sororities’ hard work they do on campus and off campus.

Tonight, Oct. 2, Intergreek Council and the Office of Student Life will hold the event titled “Empowerment and Beyond,” with guest speaker Paulaska Ramirez, founder and executive director of female advocacy group Generation Fearless. Ramirez earned her master’s degree in administrative science from FDU, and during her undergrad at William Paterson University, she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha women’s fraternity.

The program will begin at 8 p.m. sharp on Zoom to close the Meet the Greeks week.
