Basketball is back at FDU, COVID-19 keeps rising in New Jersey and Bergen County ICE Detainees continue their hunger strike in today’s daily news update.

Congratulations are in order for FDU women’s basketball with its first win, against Binghamton last night, Dec. 2, 2020! FDU traveled to Binghamton University in Vestal, N.Y. The final score was 69-55.

In other news, coronavirus cases are still rising in New Jersey and Bergen County. There were over 4,000 new cases reported in the state yesterday, with Bergen County having 401 new cases.

The state total of cases is now at over 348,000 and Bergen County is at 35,978.

Yesterday, NJ Gov. Phil Murphy discouraged any nonessential out-of-state travel in the coming weeks for the holiday season, according to ABC News, also Hackensack is closing City Hall and shutting down all city offices to the public beginning next week.

In other news, the ICE detainees in the Hackensack Prison are in week two of a hunger strike, while organizations are peacefully protesting outside the prison to stand in solidarity with the detainees and the unfair treatment, according to Patch.
