<p>FDU basketball continues and so does the rise in COVID-19. Today, we also look at the legalization process for marijuana in New Jersey.</p>

<p>The Knights are going head-to-head against the Providence Friars today at 4:30 p.m. Tune in to our live blog and follow us on <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://twitter.com/EquinoxFDU" target="_blank">Twitter</a> for updates. Viewers can also watch the game live on <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.foxsports.com/college-basketball/boxscore?id=222200&amp;is_retargeting=true&amp;cmpid=org%3Dfoxsports%3A%3Aag%3D%3A%3Amc%3Dsportsdata%3A%3Asrc%3Dsportsdata%3A%3Acmp%3Dfsgo_foxsports&amp;shortlink=446e4bd2&amp;c=fsgo_foxsports&amp;pid=sportsdata&amp;af_channel=sportsdata&amp;af_sub2=foxsports" target="_blank">Fox Sports</a>.</p>

<p>COVID-19 cases <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.google.com/search?q=new+jersey+COVID-19&amp;oq=new+jersey+COVID-19&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5j69i61l2.9970j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8" target="_blank">increased</a> to 614 new cases yesterday in Bergen County compared to a little over 500 on Thursday. </p>

<p>Yesterday. New Jersey <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.google.com/search?q=new+jersey+COVID-19&amp;oq=new+jersey+COVID-19&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5j69i61l2.9970j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8" target="_blank">reported</a> 5,663 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 358,000. </p>

<p>There is hope; <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/12/covid-19-vaccines-on-their-way-to-nj-hospitals.html" target="_blank">six</a> New Jersey hospitals have been chosen to receive a batch of new COVID-19 vaccines. The two vaccines, from Moderna and Pfizer, will be used to test operations in hopes of being approved by the federal government.</p>

<p>However, the vaccines can not be used unless authorized by the FDA in emergency scenarios.</p>

<p>In other news, Gov. Phil Murphy issued a new signed law on Friday for the <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.nj.com/marijuana/2020/12/nj-lawmakers-reach-deal-on-legal-weed-bill-plan-to-vote-later-this-month.html" target="_blank">legalization of marijuana</a> in New Jersey. The constitutional amendment is scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1, 2021.</p>

<p>The bill is the framework in legalizing marijuana, such as restorative justice for minor offenses and the legal economic benefits of the cannabis market.</p>

<p>There is still much to be done, however, to regulate the industry such as the push to decriminalize possession and cease arrests.</p>
