<p>New Jersey hospitals prepare to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine and the state buckles down as two snowstorms are headed in its direction this week.</p>

<p>Congratulations are in order for the FDU women’s basketball team on the third straight <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://fduequinox.com/2020/12/12/live-blog-fdu-womens-basketball-against-njit-2/" target="_blank">win</a> this season, against NJIT last night (68-54). Their next game will start conference play on Dec. 15 against St. Francis.</p>

<p>Hospitals in New Jersey are expecting their first batch of vaccines starting Dec. 14. While the number is still unknown of how many vaccines each hospital will receive, University Hospital in Newark expects to be able to vaccinate 3,000 people per week, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-19-vaccine-new-jersey-hospital-practices-distribution/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">according to</a> CBS News.&nbsp;</p>

<p>CBS interviewed Dr. Shereef Elnahal, University Hospital’s President, he said they have never had to prepare for anything like this before and plan to be as efficient as possible. However they will have waiting periods for individuals when they receive the vaccine to assure there is no adverse reaction.</p>

<p>As of yesterday, there were over<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.google.com/search?safe=active&amp;biw=1536&amp;bih=697&amp;ei=fB_WX8KNJoy45gL9uY6QAw&amp;q=covid+19+nj&amp;oq=covid+19+nj&amp;gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQAzIICAAQyQMQkQIyCwgAELEDEIMBEJECMgIIADICCAAyAggAMgIIADICCAAyBAgAEAoyAggAMgIIADoECAAQRzoKCAAQsQMQgwEQQzoFCC4QsQM6CAgAELEDEMkDOgUIABCSAzoFCAAQsQM6BAgAEEM6DQguELEDEMcBEKMCEEM6CgguEMcBEKMCEEM6BwgAELEDEEM6CAguELEDEIMBOgUIABCRAjoICAAQsQMQgwFQvghYmkdgkkpoAXADeAOAAcgBiAGfDpIBBTcuOS4xmAEAoAEBqgEHZ3dzLXdperABAMgBCMABAQ&amp;sclient=psy-ab&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjCu82PkMvtAhUMnFkKHf2cAzIQ4dUDCA0&amp;uact=5" target="_blank"> 6,000 new COVID-19 cases</a> in New Jersey again, after the week&#8217;s slight decrease to about 3,000 a day. Bergen County spiked to over 500 new cases again yesterday, which can account for a portion of the spike, since there were under 300 new cases<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://fduequinox.com/2020/12/12/surrounding-states-buckle-down-as-new-jersey-remains-open-for-business/" target="_blank"> on Friday</a>.</p>

<p>In other news, New Jersey is expected to get two snowstorms this coming week, <a href="https://patch.com/new-jersey/asbury-park/nj-coastal-snowstorm-possible-hazardous-weather-outlook-issued" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">according to</a> Patch.com. The first storm should arrive Monday morning and only accumulate around one-to-two inches by evening.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, on Wednesday North Jersey can expect a few inches of snowfall from an incoming coastal storm and central and south can expect a snow and rain mixture.</p>

<p>Don’t forget to clean off your car and grab your ice scraper this week. Stay safe while driving as well!</p>
