Today, we’re running through the latest update on winter storm Gail, the results from last night’s basketball game and the latest COVID-19 numbers. 

But first, get your fireplace going and your favorite mug out on the table because there is a big snow storm on the way. 

As of late Tuesday night, a winter storm warning is set to go into effect in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties from 2 p.m. Wednesday through 1 p.m. Thursday, as issued by the National Weather Service. 

Some parts of northern New Jersey that had been projected to get 18 to 24 inches are now forecast to receive 8 to 12 inches of snow, according to NJ.com. 

The state Department of Transportation also issued a “Winter Weather Congestion Alert” based on the impending storm and urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, NJ.com continued. 

In sports, the FDU women’s three-game winning streak came to an end at yesterday’s game against SFU, suffering a second loss of the season, 62-51.

As far as COVID-19 goes, Bergen County saw a 375-case increase as of  this morning, bringing the new total of cases since March to 40,414 for the state, according to NJ’s Coronavirus Tracker. 

With the snowstorm impending, hopefully that means a nice break for all of us.
