Today, we will cover the latest on the economic relief-bill, the latest COVID-19 numbers, and the results of last night’s basketball game.

As of yesterday, President Donald Trump announced in a tweet that he will not sign the COVID-19 economic-relief bill unless individual payments are increased to $2,000.

“I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple,” Trump said in the video. 

Trump also said that if Congress doesn’t deliver the relief package he wants, it will be left to the next administration. 

The government will shut down Monday if Trump doesn’t sign the legislation, according to CNBC News. This marks a strong stance by the President, but can leave the economic-relief bill up in the air if Congress fails to agree. 

In sports, FDU women’s basketball held on for its fifth win of the season, beating Saint Peter’s 66-60 in last night’s game. The Knights will start back up on Jan. 7 in Staten Island, N.Y., against NEC opponent Wagner. 

As far as COVID-19 goes, Bergen County saw a 337-case increase as of this morning, bringing the new total of cases since March to 440,366 for the state, according to NJ’s Coronavirus Tracker.
