Gov. Phil Murphy has vetoed a bill that allowed restaurants, bars and breweries struggling amid the pandemic to extend their services and serve patrons in parking lots, yards, patios, decks and public sidewalks, according to NJ.com. 

The bill made outdoor dining permits more affordable for business owners. 

With businesses already taking a hit with the winter, the rejection of this legislation, which was passed unanimously by the Senate and Assembly, will cause operations like restaurants, bars and breweries to lose the opportunities needed to expand and innovate, continued NJ.com. 

In sports, FDU’s men’s basketball team’s next three games are postponed due to positive COVID-19 test results within the program, joining the women’s basketball team on the bench. 

As far as COVID-19 goes, Bergen County saw a 467-case increase as of this morning, bringing the new total of cases since March to 499,636 for the state, according to NJ’s Coronavirus Tracker.
