It all started around 10 a.m. on Jan. 6 when Rudy Giuliani shared that he was “willing to stake his reputation” when it comes to election fraud.

By 12 p.m. President Donald Trump joins the rally by informing the crowd that he encourages Vice President Mike Pence to reject electoral college votes.

The Capitol police announced that the congressional staff were not allowed to enter or leave the building around 2:15 p.m. after Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell disagreed with rejecting electoral votes.

Rioters made their way into the Capitol by breaking glass doors and windows as police officers fired tear gas.

Rioters climbed the walls of the Capitol Building while completely vandalizing the inside. Four people died during the violent protests, according to CBS News.

Around 8 p.m., members of Congress were able to reconvene, announcing that Biden is the confirmed Electoral College winner, CBS News reported.

Trump admitted to losing the election for the first time after Congress made the announcement. “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” said Trump.

With all that is happening, coronavirus cases continue to elevate across the nation. There are 504,647 confirmed cases in New Jersey with the addition of 5,011 new cases, according to projects.nj.com

Bergen County has 53,821 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 633 new cases as of yesterday, according to usafacts.org.
