New Jersey’s winter storms always seem to happen at the beginning of the week, just in time for my turn to write a daily update on Sundays. You know the drill folks, let’s dive in.

The winter storm will start later in the evening today and continue on until Tuesday, Weather.com reports. Storm “Orlena” is predicted to be a prolonged nor’easter, according to NJ.com.

Orlena was supposed to be an average storm bringing a maximum of 6-8 inches, changed  to 8-12 inches and now it is estimated that 12-18 inches will fall in multiple NJ counties, according to the National Weather Service. It’s the winter storm that just keeps on giving. 

Bergen County is grouped with counties that are expected to get 8-10 inches of snow, alongside Passaic and Essex, according to NJ.com. The biggest snowfalls of 12-18 inches are expected in Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth and Morris counties, NJ.com continues.

Make sure your snow shovels and ice scrapers are ready, this could be the biggest storm that some regions have seen in years.

COVID-19 Numbers

As of this morning, New Jersey has 5,274 new cases and 518 of those were in Bergen County.
