Originally launched way back in September of 2014, Goblin Sword [$1.99] is one of the best action platforming games available on iOS. We loved it to pieces in our original review, and developer Gelato Games came through with meaty and frequent content updates for the game. An update in February of last year added a new chapter called The Lost City with 16 new levels, and an update last August added the Shadow Temple chapter, also with 16 new levels. Both content updates also added additional items, weapons, costumes, and features like MFi controller support. Basically, I always felt like I got way more than my money’s worth even with the initial release of Goblin Sword, and each new update was just a huge cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. Well, get ready to chow down on even more dessert as Gelato Games have just posted another brand new update to Goblin Sword, this one adding 9 new levels in a new chapter called Sacred Ruins.

As per usual, in addition to the new chapter this update includes new items, weapons, bosses, and enemies, and it also includes iCloud save syncing, which has been an oft-requested feature for the game. Really, Goblin Sword could have never received any updates at all and it would still be among my all-time favorite action platformers, and the fact that we’re still receiving updates more than a year and a half later is just magical. Not that I want you to stop though, Gelato Games. By all means keep on updating if that’s what you want to do! If you’ve somehow missed out on Goblin Sword these past couple of years, it’s never to late to jump in if you enjoy platformers with plenty of action, RPG elements, and incredible pixel art. You’d have a hard time finding a better return on your two dollar investment than with Goblin Sword, and there’s a whole forum full of people who would tend to agree.
