While it hasn’t exactly been a secret that Patrick Stewart was to reprise his role as Professor X in Wolverine 3, his involvement has never been officially confirmed by the filmmakers. New on-set images have now revealed that Stewart will indeed appear alongside Hugh Jackman in the upcoming superhero sequel. Check them out below, via Just Jared:

At San Diego Comic-Con last year, Jackman hinted strongly that the film would draw from the Old Man Logan line of comic books, a futuristic storyline which sees Wolverine as the world’s last remaining mutant. Jackman’s bearded appearance in these new images certainly suggest that we’re looking at an older version of the clawed fan-favourite.

Wolverine 3 is directed by James Mangold, who previously helmed 2013’s The Wolverine, which went on to make more than $400 million worldwide. Unlike its predecessors, Wolverine 3 will carry an R certificate. In an interview with Collider last month, producer Simon Kinberg described the film as “a very cool, different film.”

“It’s a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you’ve ever seen in any of these [other] movies,” he said. “It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone.”

Wolverine 3 hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
