Hyrule may be a fictional place, but that hasn’t stopped Nintendo from piling layer upon layer of detail to make it appear real – and that includes coming up with a unique language and alphabet for the mystical kingdom.

The recent showing of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3 gave eagle-eyed fans plenty of scope to translate, and the guys over at Zelda Universe have duly decoded some key words.

While you might be hoping for some deep and meaningful translations here, the stuff decoded so far simply proves that Nintendo has a sense of humour. For example, one of the magical terminals in the game shows the text “Now Loading, do not turn off your…”, while the word “goalpoint” floats above a treasure chest.

Expect more stuff to be unearthed as the months roll by.
