No rhyme, reason or release date

After cutting ties with Sony earlier this year, Rime developer Tequila Works has teamed up with publishers Grey Box and Six Foot to help release the long-awaited adventure game next year. The company announced the new partnerships in a press release, followed by a timetable for when it will reveal more details about Rime.

There’s still no release date for Rime, which Tequila Works unveiled during Sony’s Gamescom press conference in 2013. Instead, the developer promised a release window of sometime in 2017; additional insight on how the game looks and plays is expected next year as well.

Rime remains in development for now, although the platforms the single-player adventure — reminiscent of Studio Ghibli movies and the works of Team Ico — will be available on are still up in the air. Previously, Rime had been confirmed for a PlayStation 4 release, but Tequila Works dropped Sony as the game’s publisher in March. The developer bought back the rights to the title, giving it leeway to bring Rime to other platforms.

We’ve seen little of Rime over the last three years, but what Tequila Works has show thus far has dazzled adventure game fans.
