The Blair Witch Project was one of the most successful horror movies of the 1990s, making a huge amount of money from a tiny budget and influencing a whole generation of ‘found footage’ chillers. The direct sequel Blair Witch hits theaters next month, and a scary new TV spot has been released–check it out below:

Blair Witch is directed by Adam Wingard, who made the cult favourites You’re Next and The Guest, and will soon be helming the much-anticipated anime adaptation Death Note. It was filmed under the title The Woods, and was only revealed to be a Blair Witch sequel a few weeks ago.

The movie focuses upon the attempts of a group of students to find out what happened to the characters of the original movie within the terrifying Black Hills Forest. A first trailer was released last month–check it out here.

An earlier sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, was released in 2000, but this was a box office flop. Blair Witch is released on September 16th, 2016.
