A virtual reality Dishonored experience is being considered by Arkane, as revealed to Games Radar by Dishonored 2’s level designer, Christophe Carrier.

“We’re thinking about it,” Carrier told Games Radar, even calling the idea a “level design dream.” He does stress that if it were to happen, it wouldn’t be a port of Dishonored 1 or 2, but rather an original experience tailored to virtual reality.

“Your only transportation or mobility would be Blink,” Carrier explained, referring to one of the series’ signature powers that allows for quick teleportation. “And you wouldn’t have all the fatalities because they are animated and you don’t want to do that because you’re going to throw up!”

This idea of having a virtual reality game’s movement contingent on teleportation isn’t a new concept. Both Valve’s The Lab and Neat Corporation’s Budget Cuts handle mobility in much the same way, as does Batman: Arkham VR and Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Blood Ties VR mission.

Carrier went on to explaining that he would want a Dishonored VR game to be visually interesting, citing Dishonored 2‘s Clockwork Mansion (seen in the video above) so a player could “see the gears and see all the objects and look at them from very close because they are very beautiful and unique … Because part of the VR [experience] is also being somewhere; not only playing but just being somewhere and looking at the scenery and manipulating objects.”

Dishonored 2 is expected to be released on November 11 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more info, read our hands-on preview of the aforementioned Clockwork Mansion.
