A new controller is in the works at Valve for its virtual reality headset, the HTC Vive.

Valve showcased the new controller during the Steam Dev Days conference (via GameSpot), and Bit Space Development CEO Daniel Blair shared a few images of the device on Twitter after getting hands-on time with it at the event.

Specifics on the new controller have yet to be revealed, but Doug Lombardi, a representative from Valve, told Kotaku they are currently “focused on gathering feedback on the design prototype” and “will have more details soon.” It appears to allow for the user to open and close their hands, or use individual fingers – not unlike the upcoming Oculus Touch – but with a hand strap that allows the user to completely let go and keep it safely attached.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced claiming about a third of Valve’s entire staff is working on VR/AR research. For more on Valve’s virtual reality headset, check out IGN’s HTC Vive review.
