Preview trailer offers preliminary details

Nintendo will release the first trailer for its NX platform at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 20. You can watch it right here, right now.

We don’t know what to expect from the brief video yet — Nintendo simply said its preview trailer "will serve as Nintendo’s preliminary announcement of information regarding the platform" — but I’d guess it won’t be a nitty-gritty detailing of Nintendo’s next-generation game system. Rather, my money is on something more akin to the announcement of the Wii. Remember that video? All it did was unveil the name.

Hopefully, this is more than a cute name and bowing logo, but I wouldn’t expect much more.

The deep dive on Nintendo’s new platform is most likely going to be hitting early in 2017 with the holidays safely behind the console maker and the launch still a couple of months away. Earlier this year, Nintendo said it would be launching its new system worldwide in March 2017.

Any bets on the new name? Wii3? NVRS? 4DWii?
