Nintendo has just announced Swapdoodle, a free-to-start drawing app that is now available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

Much like its predecessor, Swapnote—which was suspended due to “offensive material”—Swapdoole allows users to create doodles and messages that can be sent to others on their 3DS friends list via SpotPass.

Got feedback on our player?

    We want to hear it.

While the app is free to download, Swapdoodle also offers paid lessons, where users can learn to sketch an array of different Nintendo characters. There are a total of 12 Lesson Packs available, each based on a different series, including Animal Crossing and Super Mario.

Additionally, Nikki, the Mii who served as a guide in Swapnote, returns in Swapdoole to help acquaint players with the app.

Lessons can be purchased as part of Premium Packs, which provide multiple lessons and additional colors for doodling. Two Premium Packs are available now, alongside a Free Starter Pack that include four lessons, an extra color, and additional notes. Swapdoodle also allows users to try out a few lessons included in these packs, with one free practice per pack.
