A surprisingly explosive list this close to Day One.

This week, the manatees have bestowed upon us the last 3DS retail game for several weeks as Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World releases. Come for the really cute animated shorts, stay for a quality port of a game that was actually #2 on my 2015 all-format GOTY list. (And check out Daan’s review if you’re on the fence.) Poochy Amiibo sadly not included with the download version, but sold separately.

A couple of rarities round out the lineup in both North America and Europe, as we have a New 3DS-exclusive futuristic racer in Lifespeed that attempts to do for portables what Shin’en did for consoles with FAST Racing NEO. On Virtual Console, you can get some great TG-16 horizontal shooter action (though I risk redundancy) with their port of Gradius, or a preview of Super Bomberman R as the legendary Bomberman ’94 releases outside Japan on Wii U.

And if you’re looking to try something new without breaking the bank (yet), Fire Emblem Heroes is also out today. Add in the late release of Punch Club for European 3DSs and it’s a bit of a barn-burner today.
