Reports suggest Square Enix is considering bringing MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV to the Nintendo Switch.

According to The Sixth Axis and Nova Crystallis, the statement was made at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Frankfurt (surely one of the more beautiful bits of alliteration in the video game world) this weekend. After talk of bringing Final Fantasy XIV to the Xbox One a few months ago, and now it seems Nintendo’s upcoming console could be on the list too.

TSA says one of the game’s producers, Naoki Yoshida, discussed the possibility during a talk, saying that the team’s goal is to bring the game to as many platforms as possible, as long as all versions of the game can interact with each other.

The availability of cross-platform play appears to be the biggest stumbling block at the moment.

The Nintendo Switch is due for release on March 2, and although Final Fantasy XIV won’t be one of them, there are a number of launch titles coming on day one.

Final Fantasy XIV launched in 2013, and is currently available on PC, PS4, and PS3. The next expansion, titled Stormblood, is due for release in June.
