Sunny Tam’s Danmaku Unlimited series is one of the best bullet hell shoot ’em up series available on mobile. We reviewed the original Danmaku Unlimited [$1.99 / Free] when it first released in the App Store nearly 6 years ago and enjoyed the heck out of it, and a couple of years later the sequel Danmaku Unlimited 2 [$4.99 / Free] was released offering even more frantic shooter gameplay. Well, it’s been far too long since we’ve had a new Danmaku Unlimited game and it sounds like Sunny Tam agrees as he’s just announced that Danmaku Unlimited 3 will be arriving on mobile on August 10th. Interestingly, while Danmaku Unlimited 1 and 2 were both originally mobile titles, Danmaku Unlimited 3 actually launched first on desktop this past March, and is currently available on Steam for half-price as part of the Steam Summer Sale. I imagine the desktop version is just fine but for me it’s hard to play shoot ’em ups on anything other than a touchscreen nowadays, so I’m pretty stoked to see Danmaku 3 "coming home" so to speak. Also, as a big Nintendo Switch fanboy, I’m excited to hear that the game will be arriving on Switch this summer as well. According to Tam Danmaku Unlimited 3 is a "Perfect 1 to 1 port of the PC Version with no Ads or iAP of any kind" and it will be arriving at a special discounted rate of $4.99 before rising up closer to its desktop counterpart’s $10 regular price. If you’ve enjoyed the previous games in the series or are just a fan of shooters, check out Danmaku Unlimited 3 on August 10th and pass the time until then by making some conversation in the game’s forum thread.
