Fortnite creative director Darren Sugg revealed on Twitter that the long-gestating title had sold over 500,000 digital pre-order copies. This number doesn’t reflect the full number of sales after the game’s release, nor does it take into account how many retail pre-order copies were sold.
"Absolutely humbled by the response to this week’s @FortniteGame launch," Sugg tweeted. "500k+ digital pre-order sales and just getting started! Thank YOU."
Fornite has been in the works for quite some time and was first announced over five years ago.
