It’s been over a decade since the Disney Channel animated series Kim Possible came to an end. Now, Disney is rebooting the franchise in a way that might come as quite a surprise. Kim Possible is being turned into a live-action Disney Channel original movie.

The network announced the news with a note that it is looking to fill key roles in the project. "Casting has begun on a live-action Kim Possible movie for the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise, 16 years after the popular character–a typical high school girl who, in her spare time, saves the world from evil villains–debuted in the animated comedy/adventure series that became a global hit," a press release reads. "The series was lauded for its empowered female role model who uses her brain, heart, and expertise to save the day."

While there are no details about which characters from the animated series will make the jump to live-action, chances are the movie will follow the source material closely. The script is being written by Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley, the creators of the cartoon, and Josh Cagan (The Duff). Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky, who previously collaborated on the series Mech X-4, will direct.

There has been no premiere date announced for the live-action Kim Possible movie. Previously, Disney produced two animated films for the franchise, which were released in 2003 and 2005.
