The Call of Duty series has always attracted players who want to pull off some off-the-wall or especially unique accomplishment (who could forget the players who earned the Nuke kill streak in Modern Warfare 2 using only Riot Shields?). Recently, one player achieved something particularly noteworthy: he hit max level in Call of Duty: WWII without ever shooting a weapon.

YouTuber TheseKnivesOnly relied exclusively on knives, ice picks, shovels, and the bayonet charge to climb the ranks. As you’d expect, it took a lot of time: he racked up over 32,000 kills and only ever used the Recon Aircraft and Counter Recon scorestreaks.

TheseKnivesOnly began playing Call of Duty games melee-only back when the first Black Ops had recently been released. He explained to Kotaku that, after witnessing a player get an acrobatic kill using a tomahawk, he was motivated to only use melee weapons.

He’s apparently the first in the world to achieve Master Prestige in Call of Duty: WWII without shooting a bullet, and developer Sledgehammer even recognized his accomplishment. You can check out one of his videos showing off some of his kills in the embed above.

In other Call of Duty news, Activision recently confirmed that Treyarch is making the next game, to be released this fall. This news made the recent rumors of Black Ops 4 a bit more credible–although Activision has yet to say anything official either disputing or confirming the rumors yet.
