Sony took the top spot in console sales for February 2018, and Monster Hunter World was the best selling game for the month.

Overall hardware spending was up 55% over the same period last year, something the NPD group attributes to “growth in Switch and Xbox One sales.” Nintendo Switch’s pace shows no sign of slowing down, with the system reaching the “highest installed base for a console platform” ever.

Dollar sales remained flat compared to February 2017. Switch software helped keep the number stable, offsetting “declines across all other platforms.”

Overall spending on hardware, software, and accessories is up 23% over last February, attributed largely to hardware, but also in the “Accessories and Gamecard” category of spending which includes controllers. The PS4 black DualShock is the best-selling accessory of 2018 so far.

Here are the top 10 best selling games by revenue in the US, according to the NPD Group.

Monster Hunter World

Call of Duty: WWII

NBA 2K18

Dragon Ball Fighterz

Grand Theft Auto V

UFC 3

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Mario Kart 8

Super Mario Odyssey

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege

Grand Theft Auto V continues to make gobs and gobs of money, holding on at fifth place for sales in spite of having originally released in 2013. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild slipped to number 11 this month, but NPD Group data for Nintendo games only includes physical sales.

The best selling game for January 2018 was also Monster Hunter World, followed by Dragon Ball FighterZ.
