The game has sold over 3 million units in its first three days of release.
God of War is now the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive.
Per PlayStation Blog, the game sold over 3.1 million copies worldwide after three days available, from April 20-22. Sony Santa Monica Studio head Shannon Studstill shared a message celebrating the achievement.
“I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us,” Studstill said. “Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play.”
Earlier this year, Horizon Zero Dawn became the “most successful new first-party franchise” to launch on PS4, selling over 7.6 million copies in one year.
